RACE TEAM

Our Race Team programs provide sailors with the opportunity to build strong sailing skills while competing in regattas throughout the summer. Sailors must commit to a minimum of one month in the program, with most choosing to sign up for the entire summer. Just like any other competitive sports team, Sailors are expected to give their full effort, be role models in the program, and travel to compete in regattas in the region. Training begins at 9am each day while at BBYC, and ends at 4pm. Sailors are expected to show up on time, and participate in fitness each day. Sailors must have achieved their CANSail 2 at minimum to be considered for the Race Team. If you are new to the race team, please email headinstructor@bbyc.ca prior to registering. 

Besides our program registration fees and the admin fee, each regatta also has their own registration fees. Some regattas will also require a class association fee, which would be outlined in the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions. In addition to this, BBYC will also charge a coaching fee in order to cover the coaching expenses for the event. Sailors and their families are also expected to assist the team with boat transportation to and from regattas. 

Opti Race

While we have some club Optis, sailors are able to bring their own boat to compete and train in. Sailors who bring their own boat get a 10% discount.
