Or Email Commodore@bbyc.ca and we will register for you.
The BBYC Annual Rogues Roost boating trip will take place the weekend of August 23, 2019. If you missed it last year, mark your calendar and join the group this time around. If you are new to boating outside the harbour, not to worry. We will host an orientation providing, navigational tips and arrange buddy boats for those who are unfamiliar with the area.
Some people will plan to leave on Friday and others on Saturday. To discuss with others on what they are bringing, how to get there and when they plan to leave, let’s have an informal get together and to provide the orientation at the wardroom on August 20, 2019.
Past Commodore David Hackett teaches Electronic Navigation courses for the Canadian Power & Sail (CPS) squadrons. He is able to give a little presentation on how to use Navionics to navigate to Rouges Roost. This is a very popular and reasonably priced chart plotter app for both Apple and Android phones and tablets. We will use the new TV on the lower level of the club and do a Power Point Presentation of the first chapter of the course to give the background on GPS, the different coordinate system and types of charts and then Dave will pull up the Navionics web based app to show what you need to do to get it on your favorite device and how to use it. Presentation will start at 7PM and it should only take 30 minutes or so, however, I’m sure there will be lots of questions afterward J I encourage you to bring your own device and follow along.
In the meantime, if you have any questions prior to the meeting, please send them to Dave Hackett at Membership@bbyc.ca
I will set up a registration site shortly so that we have an idea of how many participants we have.
More information will be provided as we approach the date.
