Yard Clean Up & Spring Gardening Hints

with Serena

10:30am (Rain Date 29 April)

Bring your pruners, gardening tools and gloves. Serena will walk around the BBYC gardens and talk about the chores one should do in the spring, general pruning, maintaining lawns, planting containers, when to fertilize etc. Then we can all pitch in and help in the grounds clean-up.

Serena has been an organic gardener for over 25 years. After retiring as a flight attendant (a job that has allowed her to explore gardens and attend garden shows around the world) she attended the Nova Scotia Agricultural College and studied Environmental Horticulture. She graduated in 2007 and set up a landscape design business. She loves to dabble in all things floral and occasionally 'does the flowers' for friends weddings and BBYC events. She no longer designs landscapes professionally, but volunteers at the Halifax Public Gardens, where she conducts weekly tours, writes a weekly blog, and sits on the board of the Friends of Public Gardens. She also plants the containers at BBYC and makes sure the gardens get the attention required to keep them looking fresh and fabulous all season.
